where do i find pants with a 30″ waist and a 40″ inch inseem?

HELP!!!! I have had problems with purchasing pant’s/jean’s all my life and I really need help with this whole buying $108 dollar jeans nightmare!!!! I am 20 years old I have medical problems to where I can not gain weight : ( and I am 6 feet tall. So now my money situation is horrible I have to by mens jeans that are way to big and still to short! I am at the end of my rope I really need help/advice?!?!

Dear not-so-freakishly-tall person: I’m sad to say that you can’t buy such long inseams and narrow waists off the rack. I know how frustrating it is trying to find anything over a 36 inch inseam in a waist size under 34 inches. My son is almost seven feet tall, 40 inch inseam and takes a waist of 29. Shorts aren’t an issue and we can buy what’s cheapest, but his pants are almost all made to measure or tailored to fit. Sometimes in a pinch we’ll buy two cheap pairs of jeans in his waist size but a standard inseam, cut one pair into shorts and take the cut off legs and sew them onto the bottom of the second pair. It looks odd, but they fit. Because I’m a fashion designer I can make custom dress pants for him with the ridiculous long inseam he needs. You might need to consider the option of tailoring and altering clothes to fit, custom made clothes or learning to sew.

The easiest and least expensive option is custom made. Here’s a website that custom makes jeans to fit your personal measurements. They are surprisingly affordable, most options are under 100$ and they offer different styling details such as top-stitch threads, rivets and buttons in different color combinations. SInce you do have a body that’s difficult to fit off the rack you might want to consider learning how to sew and make clothes for yourself. You can make pants that fit you by taking a pattern for your size and then lengthening the legs. Most commercial patterns have lines on them showing you where to add the extra leg length. You can sew custom fit pants for yourself for less than custom fit pants cost to buy.

If you have no interest in sewing you can make a tailor/alterationist your new best friend and be willing to invest a little money in having clothes altered to fit. You will have fewer clothes, but what you do have will fit.

lastly, several premium brands fit very slim and come in long lengths. Rock and Republic, Silver, Seven for All Mankind and True Religion come in tiny sizes and very long leg lengths. True Religion has a reputation of fitting very small and very long. Unfortunately they are not cheap, Custom Made Jeans from the above two sites are cheaper than premium brands.

When you have a hard to fit body you always have a trade off: either have lots of cheaper clothes that don’t fit, or fewer clothes that cost more but do fit. I hope this gives you a few options to consider.
